In order to emphasise its commitment to action, the Government has established a Ministry for Culture and Social Rehabilitation. This new Ministry will be focused on quickly implementing solutions to the challenges that exist in our community.

The new ministry brings together the departments of Child and Family Services, Financial Assistance and Court Services.

Department of Community and Cultural Affairs

The Department of Community and Cultural Affairs was established in 1988.  The Department of Community and Cultural Affairs are responsible for providing services and resources to the public such as the Bermuda Day Parade; Heritage Month, Senior Citizens Activities; Seniors’ Week; Annual Emancipation Service; Mid-term Holiday Fund Camp Programmes; Recreational activities and educational courses, personal development and self enrichment programmes; Outreach programmes; Community Service projects and Advisory Council Programmes and initiatives.

The Department of Community and Cultural Affairs’ Mission is to improve individuals’ sense of belonging to the Bermuda community through selected community-based activities, to foster and develop a greater sense for and value of Bermuda’s cultures and traditions, so as to enhance our quality of life and to create unity and pride in our identity as a people.
